Does a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) Fix Radon?
HRVs manage air exchange — they're not a substitute for a dedicated mitigation system.
What an HRV actually does
A heat recovery ventilator manages air exchange between indoor and outdoor air while recovering heat, which is valuable for indoor air quality generally. But it isn't a reliable standalone radon solution.
Why it falls short on its own
An HRV dilutes indoor air rather than blocking radon's entry point the way sub-slab depressurization or crawlspace encapsulation does. Sealing cracks alone is similarly a supplementary measure, not an effective standalone fix.
